May has been one of those months that doesn't want to end, that might be because June is Jamie's birthday month and then July is mine.

I did my first monthly favorites post in April. But this month, I've decided to up the game on the blog post a bit and add in monthly fails and empties. This could be either really good, or really boring... we'll soon find out.

Faves:

• Miss Sporty Perfect Stay 10 hour concealer in 001 Light:

The formula for this concealer is really light weight, perfect for the summer time. Due to this, the coverage isn't amazing but it's good enough. It's also buildable which is pretty good. The lightest shade is a wee bit dark on my skin tone, but not that noticeable. I find it creases really fast, but if you put it under one eye and then set with powder before you go onto the next eye - it minimises the creasing. The price is only £2.99 too, which is brilliant as it won't break the bank.

• Miss Sporty Really Me Second Skin stick foundation in Really Light:

The Really Me stick foundation isn't the best thing on the market, the packaging looks and feels cheap but it's a stick, so it's easy to travel with. It's supposed to be breathable, blendable, flawless and natural looking. Overall, those claims are pretty much right. I find that it covers my skin enough to make me look okay, without it being obvious I have makeup on. For a day to day lightweight foundation, this is perfect - it's purse friendly at £3.99 too!

• Lottie London Shimmer Squad highlighter kit:

The packaging on this product is stupidly cute, and it even comes with a mirror which is always a bonus! It cost £9.95 from Superdrug, which isn't the cheapest highlighter in the world, but it's not the most expensive either. Plus, you get four shades.

The Good Girl: this is a gorgeous peachy pinky ice shade. The Troublemaker: this is a typical white pearl shade for pale and fair skin tones.

The Queen Bee: this is a champagne gold tone, I've seen people compare this to Champagne Pop by Becca. But I don't have one to compare with. The Flirt: this is a more dark bronze toned gold.

The formula on these highlighters are really soft, they aren't chalky and they are highly pigmented. You can also build them up to a really blinding glow.

• PS... Bronze highlight and glow kit:

I've already written a blog post about this highlighter in detail, which you can see here. There are two light shades, and two darker shades. They formula is buttery and not chalky at all.

• Manny MUA x Makeup Geek palette:

I'm pretty sure that my Manny MUA palette is actually fake, but I brought it from someone who showed me a receipt but lets face it - even that can be faked. I did a bunch of patch tests and it's never irritated me, but I only tend to wear the colours over the top of my other shadows, and never underneath my eyes. Usually just on the top lid as a pop of colour. Either way, it's still in my top faves for this month. I know the shades don't look as good as if they were real, but they're still SO pretty.

Luna: A muted champagne yellow with a shimmer to it. Peaches and Cream: a soft peachy beige with a matte finish. Artemis: a sort of rose gold shade with foiled finish. Frappe: a light rose gold/peach shade with gold flecks and a shimmery finish. Sora: an earthy matte shade. Cosmopolitain: a medium brown matte shade. Aphrodite: a duo chrome shade which has a blue reflect and a foil finish. Mars: a deep burgundy red with a matte finish. Insomnia: a deep brown with a matte finish.

Overall, the palette is pretty great if it's not real. I like it.

• MUA Luxe Velvet matte liquid lipstick in Apollo:

This lipstick is stupidly pretty, it's a metallic velvet matte lipstick with a lot of shimmer. It's hard to explain the colour of this, it's kind of a rosey pink. It's matte, it's not sticky and it lasts ages!

• Nyx Lip Lingerie in Embellishment:

I am in love with this lipstick, it's one of my favorite shades ever. The formula of these lipsticks are mousse-like consistency that glides on the lips with no problem. It doesn't take very long for the lipstick to dry down to matte either. They're not long lasting, but they do take a little bit of time to wear off.

Embellishment is a muted purple tone, which looks a tad taypey. It's not my usual shade, but it looks so nice on the lips! A brilliant everyday shade.

Fails:

• Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper:

I get that everyone loves this, but I don't feel the love for it that much. I find that this smudges a lot and due to the fact I have oily skin, it's just a mess. It dries up really quick, I've been using it for a month or two consistently and it feels like it's dried up already. The brush also seems to need cleaning, but you can't actually clean it. I'm not sure if it's the same issue as the smudging, but it fades so much. I put it on in the morning, and by the evening, it's basically gone - a bit of a rip off for an eyeliner that is SO expensive.

• PS... Glitter Obsessed glitter eye cream palette:

This £4 glitter palette had me stupidly excited when I first got it, but now? I'm not feeling the love. It has 28 shades, that look festival ready. It looks so good, but when you actually come to try the product... it's just, meh. The colours look vague when you apply them, they have no blendability or buildability. When you try to put it on, it sticks mainly to your finger and not your skin. I tried to put it over eyeshadow, it took the shadows off...

Overall, it just looks pretty on the side.

• Makeup Revolution Ultra Revolution eyeshadow in Flawless Matte:

This neutral palette only costs £8.00 and has 32 shades. In all honesty, I don't see the hype behind this at all. I find most matte shades from Makeup Revolution lack a punch and they look chalky as hell. Maybe it's just me.

Either way, I've tried multiple times to get this palette to be my friend... and we're just not feeling it. I'll be seeing if my sister wants this instead, it's just never gonna be used again.

• e.l.f Aqua Beauty Molten Liquid eyeshadow in Rose Gold:

I was so excited about this liquid eyeshadow as it's rose gold. It's promoted as a liquid eyeshadow, but it looks more like a sheer gloss. It has a sponge applicator to easily swipe colour on and blend. When you do a swatch, it looks so good but on the lid... it doesn't really have the same... pow. It's thin yet creamy but easy to blend. I assume it's better with a primer, but I'm not 100% sure if that would make it better. Overall, I'm disappointed over the colour pay off.

Empties:

• Collection Illuminating Touch foundation in Porcelain 1:

This foundation is the first foundation I've ever actually used up. It's £3.99 which isn't a huge bank busting price. It has a pump, which I find useful because you don't waste product. I find that although it feels thick, it's super lightweight on the skin. I find this foundation lasts really well. I will definitely repurchase this again!

• Makeup Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer:

I don't really get primers... I use them and they never make any difference with my makeup. Either I use them wrong or they aren't designed for my skin type. I used this one up, but I'm not 100% sure how much product was actually in the bottle coz it seemed to empty out really fast. It's clear in colour and feels like silicone... which I thought would feel greasy, but it doesn't. It does say it's 24 hour protection, but I don't thing it actually provides that... but it's still the best primer I've tried.

Hope you enjoyed this post, what were your faves/fails and empties this year? :)
